Second Annual Student Research Conference on Gender Planned for April 12, 1997

When: Saturday, April 12, from 9:a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Heth Student Center on the Radford University Campus

The Center for Gender Studies at Radford University cordially invites you and your colleagues to attend our Second Annual Student Research Conference on Gender. The conference will include presentations by both undergraduate and graduate students, and is multi-disciplinary, centering on issues and knowledge related to gender. Student submissions on research concerning gender in all academic fields are invited for papers, posters, and symposia. The aims of the conference are to showcase the excellent research that students are doing, to provide students with the opportunity to receive feedback on their work, and to give all of us the opportunity to share information about current research on gender.

Some Conference Highlights:

• All-day student art exhibit on themes of gender
  
• Keynote speaker, Dr. Meredith Kimball: "Creating Inclusive Feminisms: The Interaction of Research and Politics"
  
• All day: Papers and discussions on such diverse topics as Feminist Music, Alice Walker, Perceptions of Power, Women's Accounts of Violence, Feminist Mothers and Daughters, Discrimination in Higher Education, Women in Prisons
  
• Performance of a collaborative dance work, created and performed by the students in RU's Department of Dance
  
• Closing Reception, featuring music by RU's saxophone quartet, "Pipe Dreams"
